Eddie Miksis Marquee

Miksis became an everyday player after Brooklyn sent him to the Cubs during 1951. His largest season came for Chicago in 1953, when he played 142 games, collected 145 hits, scored 61 runs and stole 13 bases. He set his career high with nine home runs two years later.

Fourteen seasons gave him 722 hits, 95 doubles, 44 home runs, 383 runs and a .236 average across 1,042 games. He played 382 games at second base, 219 in the outfield, 179 at third and 137 at shortstop, never remaining tied to one defensive role.

Miksis debuted with Brooklyn in 1944 at eighteen, missed the 1945 season, then returned for six more years with the Dodgers. After Chicago, he moved from St. Louis to Baltimore during 1957 and from Baltimore to Cincinnati during 1958. The 1964 Hall of Fame ballot gave him one vote of 201. He died in 2005, at seventy-eight.
