Doug DeCinces Marquee

Following Brooks Robinson at third base for the Baltimore Orioles was not a job many would have wanted, and Doug DeCinces had it. He took over the position full-time in the late 1970s and held it through the 1981 season, absorbing the comparisons that came with it.

The move to California in 1982 freed him. He hit 30 home runs and drove in 97 that year, took a Silver Slugger, finished third in Most Valuable Player voting, and made the All-Star team the following season.

Born in Burbank in 1950, DeCinces played fifteen years and finished with 1,505 hits, 237 home runs and 879 runs batted in, closing out with a brief stop in St. Louis in 1987.
