Hansen's career was defined by part-time work. He appeared in 1,230 games but totaled only 1,793 at bats, never reaching 350 in a season. His largest year was 1992 with the Dodgers, when he played 132 games and collected 73 hits.
Fifteen seasons gave him 466 hits, 79 doubles, 35 home runs, 222 runs batted in, 283 walks and a .260 average. He played 371 games at third base and 143 at first. His best average came with the Cubs in 1997, when he hit .311 across 151 at bats.
Los Angeles employed Hansen for parts of eleven seasons across two stints. After one year with Chicago and another year outside the majors, he returned to the Dodgers from 1999 through 2002. He played for San Diego in 2003, split 2004 between Seattle and the Padres, and finished with the Mariners in 2005.
