Cookie Rojas Marquee

b. March 6, 1939 · Cincinnati Reds 1962, Philadelphia Phillies 1963–1969, St. Louis Cardinals 1970, Kansas City Royals 1970–1977

In 1967, for Philadelphia, he played second base, the outfield, catcher, shortstop, third base and one inning as a pitcher, and over his career he appeared at every position on the field. He was chosen for five All-Star teams, all of them as Kansas City's second baseman in the 1970s.

Sixteen seasons gave him 1,660 hits, 254 doubles and a .263 average. He hit .300 in 1971 for the Royals and was the second baseman for the clubs that started winning divisions there in 1976.

He was Cuban, from Havana, and left in 1961. He managed the Angels briefly, coached for two decades, and has broadcast the Marlins' games in Spanish since 1993. The 1983 ballot gave him no votes.
