He played center field for Cincinnati's back-to-back champions of 1975 and 1976, winning Gold Gloves in each of those seasons and two more on either side, four in a row from 1974 to 1977. He hit .281 with 133 hits in 1974 and .257 the following year, steady rather than spectacular offensive seasons behind a lineup full of stars.
Fifteen seasons gave him 977 hits, 161 doubles, 460 runs batted in, 82 stolen bases and a .258 average, with 1,376 games in the outfield for three clubs. He is from San Pedro de Macorís in the Dominican Republic.
He finished with Kansas City in 1983 at thirty-five. The 1989 ballot gave him no votes of 447.
