Buddy Myer played shortstop and third base for Washington and Boston early in his career before settling at second base for the Senators for his final twelve seasons, retiring in 1941.
He batted .303 with 2,131 hits over 1,923 games, scoring 1,174 runs and drawing 965 walks across a seventeen-season career built on consistent on-base ability.
His two All-Star selections came in 1935 and 1937, both with Washington.
Ellisville, Mississippi produced Myer, on March 16, 1904; he batted left-handed while throwing right, a career spent moving from shortstop to third and finally to second base. He died on October 31, 1974, more than three decades after his playing career ended.
