Bob Forsch Marquee

b. January 13, 1950 · St. Louis Cardinals 1974–1988, Houston Astros 1988–1989

He no-hit Philadelphia in April 1978 and Montreal in September 1983, the only Cardinal with two. His brother Ken Forsch had thrown one for Houston in April 1979, which makes them the only brothers who have each pitched a no-hitter.

He won 163 games for St. Louis, fourth in the club's history, and 168 in all across sixteen seasons with a 3.76 earned run average and 2,794 innings. He pitched in three World Series for the Cardinals and won the 1982 one.

He could hit: 12 home runs, two Silver Sluggers, and a .213 average that several of his teammates did not reach. He was signed as a third baseman and converted in the minor leagues. He died of an aortic aneurysm in 2011, at sixty-one, days after throwing a ceremonial first pitch at Busch Stadium. The 1995 ballot gave him two votes of 460.
