The Cubs End a 108-Year Championship Drought

The Cubs led 6–3 heading into the eighth inning before Cleveland tied the game, sending it to extra innings. A brief rain delay separated the ninth inning from the tenth, during which several Cubs players and staff regrouped, a moment later credited with steadying the team. Ben Zobrist's go-ahead double in the tenth proved decisive.

The win completed a comeback from a three-games-to-one series deficit and made the Cubs champions for the first time since their 1908 team beat the Detroit Tigers.
