The Blue Jays Become World Series Champions

On October 24, 1992, the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Atlanta Braves 4–3 in eleven innings to win the World Series in six games, becoming the first Major League Baseball team based outside the United States to win a championship.

Dave Winfield's two-out double in the top of the 11th drove in what proved to be the winning runs. Atlanta threatened in the bottom of the inning, but the Braves' Otis Nixon was thrown out trying to bunt for a hit with the tying run on base, ending the series.

The Blue Jays repeated as champions the following year, beating the Philadelphia Phillies in 1993 on Joe Carter's series-ending home run, making them back-to-back World Series winners.
