Rod Carew's 3,000th Hit

The uniform said California, and the opponent was Minnesota. On August 4, 1985, Rod Carew singled off his old club for his 3,000th hit, one hit in five at-bats, and the Angels won 6–5.

Carew had spent twelve seasons with the Twins before a trade sent him to Anaheim in 1979. He won seven batting titles in Minnesota, including a .388 season in 1977 that brought him the Most Valuable Player award, and he was named to an All-Star team in eighteen different years.

It was his last season. He finished with 3,053 hits and a .328 average, and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1991.
