Albert Pujols's 3,000th Hit

Albert Pujols singled twice in four at-bats at Seattle on May 4, 2018, the first of them his 3,000th hit, and drove in two runs as the Angels won 5–0.

He had passed 600 home runs the previous summer, and only Hank Aaron, Willie Mays and Alex Rodriguez had held both totals before him. Pujols was thirty-eight and in his seventh season with Anaheim after eleven in St. Louis, where he won three Most Valuable Player awards and two championships and was, for most of the 2000s, the best hitter in the game.

He returned to the Cardinals for a final season in 2022, hit his 700th home run, and finished with 3,384 hits and 2,218 runs driven in.
