Tommy Bridges pitched for the Detroit Tigers for the whole of his career, from 1930 to 1946, with a two-year gap during the middle of that stretch, a span of sixteen seasons on the mound for one club.
He won 194 games against 138 losses, with a 3.57 earned run average across 2,826 innings pitched, completing 200 of his 362 starts and throwing 33 shutouts. He struck out 1,674 batters over that span.
He was a Baseball Magazine All-Star in four straight seasons, from 1933 through 1936, part of a run of six All-Star selections that continued through 1940.
A right-handed pitcher and hitter, he came into the world in Gordonsville, Tennessee, on December 28, 1906. He died on April 19, 1968.
