Rick Honeycutt Marquee

b. June 29, 1954 · Seattle Mariners 1977–1980, Texas Rangers 1981–1983, 1994, Los Angeles Dodgers 1983–1987, Oakland Athletics 1987–1993, 1995, New York Yankees 1995, St. Louis Cardinals 1996–1997

He was 14-8 with a 2.42 earned run average for Texas in August 1983, the best in the American League, when the Rangers traded him to Los Angeles. He finished the year 2-3 with the Dodgers and still led the league, because the innings were already banked.

Twenty-one seasons gave him 109 wins against 143, 38 saves and a 3.72 earned run average across 2,160 innings. He was a starter for eleven years and a left-handed relief specialist for ten more, pitching in three World Series for Oakland and winning the 1989 one.

In 1980 he was caught with a thumbtack taped to a finger, scratching baseballs, and suspended ten days. He was the Dodgers' pitching coach from 2006 to 2019 and won another World Series there. The 2003 ballot gave him two votes of 496.
