Born June 5, 1967

Ray Lankford is one of a small group of players with 200 home runs and 200 stolen bases for a single franchise. He did it in twelve seasons with St. Louis, twice going 20-20 and once, in 1997, making the All-Star team while hitting 31 home runs.
He also struck out more than any Cardinal ever has, which is the trade the club accepted for the power and the walks — 828 of the latter — and for a center fielder who could run down most of what was hit near him.
Born in Los Angeles in 1967, Lankford spent two years in San Diego before returning to St. Louis for a final season in 2004, finishing with 1,561 hits, 238 home runs and 258 stolen bases.
