Luis Alicea Marquee

b. July 29, 1965 · St. Louis Cardinals 1988, 1991–1994, 1996, Boston Red Sox 1995, Anaheim Angels 1997, Texas Rangers 1998–2000, Kansas City Royals 2001–2002

He came up with St. Louis in 1988 and had his most productive season more than a decade later with Texas, batting .294 with 159 hits in 2000. He was primarily a defense-first second baseman across his career, valued for durability at the position rather than power.

Thirteen seasons gave him 1,031 hits, 189 doubles, 53 triples, 422 runs batted in and a .260 average, with 998 games at second base. He also drew 500 walks and stole 81 bases. He is from Santurce, Puerto Rico, and played for Puerto Rico in international competition.

He finished with Kansas City in 2002 at thirty-seven. He is not on a Hall of Fame ballot.
