Born June 19, 1988

In 2018 he made 32 starts for the Mets, allowed 41 earned runs, struck out 269 and finished 10-9. His ERA was 1.70. The voters gave him the award anyway, and no starting pitcher has won a Cy Young with fewer wins; Paul Skenes matched the ten in 2025. He won it again in 2019.
He led the National League in strikeouts in 2019 with 255 and in 2020 with 104. In 2021 he made fifteen starts, gave up eleven earned runs and had a 1.08 ERA. He was Rookie of the Year in 2014, and through 2025 he has 96 wins and 1,851 strikeouts in 1,539 innings across twelve seasons.
Injury has cost him whole seasons. He started six games in 2023 and three in 2024, his first two seasons in Texas, then came back in 2025 for thirty starts, twelve wins and 185 strikeouts, and was voted comeback player of the year. He has five All-Star selections, the first in 2015.
