Frank Snyder Marquee

b. May 27, 1894 · St. Louis Cardinals 1912–1919, 1927, New York Giants 1919–1926

He caught for New York's pennant winners of 1921, 1922, 1923 and 1924, four straight, and for the World Series champions of 1921 and 1922. He hit .265 across sixteen seasons, adequate rather than notable, and was kept in the lineup for his handling of a pitching staff that included several future Hall of Famers.

Sixteen seasons gave him 1,122 hits, 170 doubles, 331 runs batted in and a .265 average across 1,247 games behind the plate. He hit 103 hits with a .265 average in 1923, his busiest season with New York.

St. Louis had him for his first seven seasons before trading him to the Giants. He coached in the majors after retiring as a player. No Hall of Fame ballot ever listed him. He died in 1962, at sixty-seven.
