Charlie Moore caught for the Milwaukee Brewers for fourteen years and was moved to right field for a stretch in the early 1980s because the club had somewhere else to put him and nowhere better to put his bat. He handled both without complaint.
The 1982 postseason was the peak: he hit .462 in the League Championship Series against California as Milwaukee came back from two games down, then .346 in the World Series the club lost to St. Louis, throwing out baserunners from right field along the way.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1953, Moore collected 1,052 hits across 1,334 games and finished with Toronto in 1987. Moore was seventy-two when he died, in May 2026.
