Bud Selig Marquee Hall of Fame 2017

Bud Selig brought baseball back to Milwaukee by buying the bankrupt Seattle Pilots in 1970 and moving them east as the Brewers. Born in July 1934, he later became commissioner and was elected to the Hall of Fame by the Today's Game Era committee in 2017.

He led the owners' committee that removed Fay Vincent in 1992, took the job on an acting basis, and kept it until 2015. The 1994 strike canceled the World Series, the only year since 1904 that it was not played. Afterward came the wild card, three divisions in each league, interleague play, revenue sharing and two more expansion clubs.

Performance-enhancing drugs went untested through the rewriting of the game's home-run records on his watch, and the testing program that followed the 2007 Mitchell report was agreed under him too. He is the only commissioner to have been an owner first, which is the explanation usually offered for both halves of the record.
