Buck Martinez Marquee

Martinez's major-league career rested on his work behind the plate. He caught 1,008 of his 1,049 games across seventeen seasons, spending nine years with Kansas City before later runs in Milwaukee and Toronto. His busiest offensive season was 1982, when he hit 10 home runs for the Blue Jays.

He finished with 618 hits, 128 doubles, 58 home runs, 321 runs batted in and a .225 average. Martinez topped 300 at bats only once, in 1984, as his teams generally divided their catching work. He also made one pitching appearance for Milwaukee in 1979.

Kansas City brought him up in 1969, though he did not establish a regular role until the middle of the next decade. Three seasons with Milwaukee preceded six in Toronto, where his playing career ended in 1986. Martinez later managed the Blue Jays to a 99-113 record across portions of 2001 and 2002.
