Barry Zito pitched for the Oakland Athletics for his first seven seasons before a record free-agent contract took him to San Francisco in 2007, where he stayed through 2013 and briefly returned to Oakland to close out his career in 2015.
He went 165-143 with a 4.04 earned run average over 2,576 innings pitched, completing 12 of his 421 starts and throwing 5 shutouts, striking out 1,885 batters across a fifteen-year career.
He took the Cy Young Award in 2002, the same year he was named a Sporting News All-Star, and later won the Hutch Award and the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award in 2012.
