Born April 24, 1897
Washington County, TX, USA
He led in saves in 1923, 1925, 1929 and 1930, and in shutouts in 1922. Across fourteen seasons from 1920 he went 109-61 in 275 recorded games with 626 strikeouts, working roughly 1,496 innings. He was a left-hander who threw softly and put the ball where he wanted it, which is the sort of thing the record cannot show and the accounts all agree on.
He pitched for the Detroit Stars and then the Kansas City Monarchs, and managed the Monarchs at the end. He was chosen for one East-West All-Star game. The figures are partial because these statistics were not kept with the resources the white major leagues had.
He died in June 1941, at forty-four, while still managing. The Hall of Fame elected him in 2006 through the special Negro Leagues committee, sixty-five years later, and he is among the least written-about men in it.

Seasons outside MLB's recognized major leagues appear in All seasons, but not in Major leagues or the leaderboards. For Andy Cooper, that is 1933–1936. Why totals can differ.
Washington County, TX, USA
Andy Cooper played a final major-league game on September 4, 1939.
