Miguel Cabrera's two singles against Colorado on April 23, 2022 drove in two runs and carried him past 3,000 hits. Detroit won the game 13–0, and the first of the two singles was the milestone.

Cabrera was thirty-nine and had reached 500 home runs the previous August, a pairing only seven players have managed. He had come up with the Florida Marlins at twenty and won a World Series in his rookie season, then moved to Detroit in 2008 and won back-to-back Most Valuable Player awards in 2012 and 2013.

The first of those seasons brought him a Triple Crown, the first in either league in forty-five years. He played through 2023 and stopped at 3,174 hits, 511 home runs and a .306 average.
