Stan Musial Marquee Hall of Fame 1969

Stan Musial spent all 22 of his major-league seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals, batting .331 with 3,630 hits, 475 home runs and 1,951 runs batted in. He was Most Valuable Player three times and was chosen for an All-Star team in twenty seasons — every year from 1943 to 1963 except 1945, which he spent in the Navy.

He led the league in doubles eight times and in hits six, and finished with 725 doubles, behind only Tris Speaker and Pete Rose. He struck out 696 times in 10,972 at-bats, which is roughly once a week across twenty-two years.

He was called Stan the Man by opposing fans in Brooklyn, which is not how that usually goes. He retired after 1963 at 42, went into the Cardinals' front office, and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1969.
