In 2022 he went 14-9 with a 2.28 earned run average, six complete games and 228 innings for a Miami club that finished fourth and lost 93. Every one of the thirty voters put him first. Nobody else in the league threw more than two complete games that season.
Eight seasons have given him 52 wins against 67, a 3.65 earned run average, 1,075 innings, 12 complete games and 931 strikeouts. The record looks ordinary because the clubs behind him were: he lost 14 games in 2019 and 15 in 2021 with earned run averages under 3.90.
Elbow reconstruction cost him all of 2024. He came back in 2025 and made 31 starts. He is from Azua in the Dominican Republic and is not on a Hall of Fame ballot.
