Logan Hensley Marquee

Logan Hensley pitched for the St. Louis Stars for a decade and was part of the rotation for the clubs that won Negro National League pennants in 1928, 1930 and 1931, alongside Cool Papa Bell, Willie Wells and Mule Suttles in the lineup behind him.

The surviving record credits him with 85 wins against 45 losses and 66 complete games, a winning percentage that reflects how good those teams were as much as how good he was. Short spells with Toledo, Cleveland, Indianapolis and the Chicago American Giants fill in either end.

Born in Pacific, Missouri in 1900, Hensley struck out 518 batters in 1,113 recorded innings and threw seven shutouts. He was seventy-one at his death, in November 1971.
