Carl Furillo played right field for the Brooklyn Dodgers for eleven seasons before the franchise's move to Los Angeles carried him through the final three years of his career, retiring in 1960.
He batted .299 with 1,910 hits over 1,806 games, hitting 192 home runs and driving in 1,058 runs, a productive line sustained across fifteen major-league seasons.
He was a Baseball Magazine All-Star in 1950 and a Sporting News All-Star in 1953, recognition that ran alongside two genuine All-Star selections in 1952 and 1953.
Furillo was born in Stony Creek Mills, Pennsylvania on March 8, 1922, and batted and threw right-handed. He died on January 21, 1989, nearly three decades after his last game.
